- Minor cuts & abrasions → Prevents infection and helps small wounds heal faster.
- Small burns → Protects burned skin from bacteria and reduces risk of infection.
- Minor surgical procedures → Applied after small operations to keep the area clean and infection‑free.
- Fungal & bacterial skin infections → Treats conditions like pyodermas and other skin infections.
- Decubitus ulcers (bedsores) → Helps control infection in pressure sores caused by lying in one position for too long.
- Stasis ulcers → Useful for ulcers that develop due to poor blood circulation in the legs.

- Test for sensitivity → Apply a small amount first to check for irritation or allergy.
- Avoid prolonged use → Long or extensive application may cause thyroid problems or kidney issues.
- Do not use on large areas → Excess iodine absorption can lead to hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism.
- Monitor thyroid function → Patients with thyroid disorders should use under medical supervision.
- Stop if severe reaction occurs → Discontinue immediately if you notice swelling, rash, or breathing difficulty.
- Use with caution in kidney disease → Rare cases of metabolic acidosis or acute renal failure have been reported.

Dosages administration of Povidone Iodine Ointment
Route of administration: Topical
For the treatment of infection: Apply once or twice daily for a maximum of 14 days.
For the prevention of infection, apply once or twice a week, for as long as necessary.
The affected skin should be cleaned and dried. Apply Conidone ointment to the affected area. May be covered with a dressing or bandage.
Not for use in children under two years of age.
