Ornidazole Tablet 500mg is used to treat people who have certain types of vaginal, urinary tract, and intestinal infections or some specific infections that are in the body.
These infections may be caused by anaerobic bacteria or amoebas.
Ornidazole is also used to guard against the possibility of these types of infections during surgery (prophylaxis).

If you have been taking Ornidazole tablets for more than ten days or are taking larger quantities, it is imperative that you go through regular checkups and lab tests.
Blood Health Checking Parameters: Patients with a history of blood diseases should have their leukocyte counts, or white blood cell counts, checked both before and after starting medication, especially during follow-up therapies.
Nervous System: Use caution if you suffer from any nerve-related conditions at the moment. Ornidazole may exacerbate symptoms. Stop using immediately if you notice:
Numbness or tingling (peripheral neuropathy)
The loss of balance or coordination is known as ataxia.
Dizziness, or vertigo
Uncertainty or mental fog
Candidiasis Warning It’s possible that ornidazole will make fungal infections like candidiasis severe.

Whether you’re using Ornidazole for infection treatment or surgical prevention, here’s how it’s usually prescribed:
- Adults & Children Over 35 kg
Quick course: 3 tablets (500 mg each) in the evening for 1 to 3 days - Extended course: Split the dose—1 or 2 tablets in the morning and evening for 3 to 10 days
Duration depends on the specific type of infection being treated. - Surgical Prophylaxis (Before and After Surgery)
Take 3 tablets 12 hours before surgery - Then 1 tablet every 12 hours for 3 to 5 days post-surgery to prevent infection
- Children ≤ 35 kg
Dose ranges from 25 to 40 mg per kg of body weight per day - Given as a once-daily dose for up to 10 days (depending on infection type)
