Uses of Diclofenac Gel
- Mild to moderate muscle pain → Provides localized relief from muscle aches, stiffness, and discomfort.
- Contusions → Reduces pain, swelling, and inflammation caused by bruises or blunt injuries.
- Post‑traumatic pain → Effective in managing pain and inflammation following minor injuries, sprains, or strains.
Precautions of Diclofenac Gel
Precautions While Applying Diclofenac 1% Gel
- Systemic risk → Although systemic side effects are rare with topical use, they may occur if applied on large areas or for prolonged periods.
- Serious skin reactions → Very rare but severe reactions (exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens‑Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) have been reported with NSAIDs, usually within the first month of treatment.
- Concomitant NSAID use → Caution when using oral NSAIDs simultaneously, as systemic side effects may increase.
- Discontinue on hypersensitivity → Stop treatment immediately if rash, mucosal injury, or allergic manifestations occur.
- Application site → Apply only to intact, non‑diseased skin. Avoid wounds, open injuries, eyes, mucous membranes, and ingestion.
- Sunlight exposure → Do not expose treated areas to direct sunlight.
- Bandage use → Can be used with non‑occlusive bandages, but avoid airtight occlusive dressings.
Dosages administration of Diclofenac Gel
Adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over
Apply thin layers of 1%Diclofenac Gel in the affected area, 3-4 times daily according to the need of the situation (about 2-4 g, quantity as big as a cherry or a walnut) and rub gently.
The treatment duration depends on the indications and the patient’s response to the treatment. It is recommended that the treatment should be evaluated 7 days after its beginning.
In adolescents aged 14 years and over, if this product is required for more than 7 days for pain relief or if the symptoms worsen the patients/parents of the adolescent is/are advised to consult a doctor.
1%Diclofenac Gel can be used as additional treatment to the oral administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Children and adolescents aged below 14 years
There are insufficient data on efficacy and safety available for the children and adolescents below 14 years of age.
Elderly
The usual adult dosage may be used.
Hepatic and renal impairment
No dosage adjustment is required in patients with hepatic impairment.
1%Diclofenac Gel is contraindicated in patients with renal impairment.
Directions for Use:
For topical use only.
Apply on healthy skin only.
After application, the hands should be washed, unless these are being treated.

- Rash → Redness or irritation at the site of application.
- Eczema → Dry, itchy, inflamed skin.
- Erythema → Localized redness due to irritation.
- Dermatitis → Includes contact dermatitis from repeated or prolonged use.
- Pruritus → Itching sensation at the application site.

Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect from light.
Keep the medicine out of reach of children.
