This injectable antibiotic combo is prescribed for:

Kidney and Liver Function
- If someone has kidney or liver problems, extra care is needed when using this medicine.
- The dose must be adjusted if the patient’s creatinine clearance is less than 60 mL/min (a sign of kidney trouble).
- This helps prevent medicine buildup in the body, which can be harmful.
Before Starting Treatment
- Doctors should ask if the patient has ever had an allergic reaction to:
- Cefepime
- Other cephalosporins
- Penicillin or similar antibiotics
- Any other medications.
Dosages administration of Cefepime And Tazobactam Injection 1125 mg
Cefepime and Tazobactam Injection 1125 mg is best given through IV infusion over 30 minutes but may be used as a deep intramuscular (IM) injection if needed.
Adults:
- Dosage depends on the severity of infection. Your doctor will determine the right amount and frequency.
Children (2 months to 12 years):
- Usually given at a dose of 40 to 50 mg per kg of body weight every 8 to 12 hours.
- The maximum dose should not exceed the recommended adult dose.
Patients with Liver Problems:
- No dosage changes are needed for those with impaired liver function.

Common Side Effects of Cefepime & Tazobactam Injection 1125 mg (Seen in 1% or More Patients)
- Injection site reactions like
- Redness or swelling (3.0%)
- Vein inflammation (phlebitis) (1.3%)
- Pain or irritation (0.6%)
- Skin rash (1.1%)
Less Common Side Effects (Seen in 0.1% to 1% Patients)
- Digestive issues: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, colitis (inflammation of the colon)
- Body reactions: Fever, headache, itching, hives, vaginal infections
- Mouth yeast infections: Oral moniliasis
Higher doses (2 g every 8 hours) may cause more side effects.
- Higher rates of:
- Rash (4%)
- Diarrhea (3%)
- Nausea (2%)
- Vomiting, itching, fever, headache (1% each)
Lab Test Changes (May Not Cause Symptoms)
These are changes seen in blood tests, not always felt by the patient:
More common changes (≥1%):
- Positive Coombs’ test (16.2%)—indicates immune response, but usually without damage
- Decrease in phosphorus
- Increase in liver enzymes (ALT/SGPT, AST/SGOT)
- More eosinophils (a type of white blood cell)
- Changes in blood clotting times (PT, PTT)
Less common changes (<1%):
- Increased: alkaline phosphatase, BUN (kidney function), calcium, creatinine, potassium, and total bilirubin.
- Decreased: calcium, hematocrit, white blood cells, platelets, and neutrophils.
