- Fructose Intolerance: This syrup contains a high amount of sorbitol. People with hereditary fructose intolerance must not take it. Babies under 2 years may not be diagnosed yet, so extra caution is needed.
- Severe Allergic Skin Reactions: Rare but serious skin reactions like rashes, blisters, or peeling (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome) have been reported. Stop using the syrup immediately if any skin rash worsens or spreads.
- Kidney or Liver Problems: If you have kidney or liver disease, use this syrup carefully. It may build up in the body and cause side effects.
- Stomach Ulcers: Use with caution if you have a history of peptic ulcers.
- Sodium Metabisulphite: May cause allergic reactions or breathing problems in rare cases.
- Benzoic Acid: May increase the risk of jaundice in newborns (up to 4 weeks old).
