How it works?

Uses of Amoxicillin Clavulanate Potassium Tablet

What are the uses of the amoxicillin clavulanate potassium tablet?

  • Clinical studies show that combining amoxicillin with clavulanic acid makes the treatment more effective than using amoxicillin alone.
  • Clavulanic Acid’s Role: It helps amoxicillin fight bacteria that would normally resist it—especially those that produce an enzyme called β-lactamase, which breaks down antibiotics.
  • Limited Power on Its Own: Clavulanic acid by itself has weak antibacterial action, except against a few specific bacteria like Legionella, Branhamella, Bacteroides fragilis, and Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
  • Proven Synergy: Lab and animal studies confirm that the combination works better together—helping treat a wider range of infections more effectively.
